About Me

Hi! I’m Washi, a full time Maths Tutor from Leicester.

I have a First class degree in Maths and Computer Science and have helped hundreds of students succeed in their maths exams since 2013, by focusing on very specific exam techniques. I have tutored students to exam success from top schools across the country including Leicester, London, Leeds and Coventry.

See my explanations on my YouTube channel here.

The vast majority of students come to me in order to pass an exam within a certain time frame, so my approach stems from that. I draft a basic paper to know your level in the first session, don't worry, it's not an exam and I'll help you through. I will then give you the exact informations you need for the exams you are sitting, and I can guarantee that under my guidance, if you do the work I set out for you, you will smash your exams!

Background story

Ever since the start of my A-Levels, I’ve been teaching and helping people out with their studies(Maths, Chemistry, Physics,  Computer Science). When I was doing my A levels, I was mentoring GCSE Maths students. Having outstanding A level results, I obtained a full scholarship for my BSc and as I went on into University, I started out giving private lessons to both GCSE and A-Level students. I should note here that I still never had a clue that I would be doing this as a career! As I got into the third year of my studies, I was offered a teaching job in the Maths Department at the University for the freshers. For the next two years I ran help sessions on various second and third year Maths courses, with class sizes ranging from 5 all the way to 35. The classes were a huge success and students came back week after week, but the course was finishing and I still had no idea what would be the ideal job for me, when I graduated. I proud being on the Dean Merit list for 3 consecutive years and got rewarded by another scholarship for my masters.

In 2017, I was working as a software developer (Microsoft Indian Ocean and partners) and research assistant before becoming a full time tutor in 2021. Being a full-time tutor has given me the time to look at how I tutor and really perfect my craft. I can tutor on a level that I couldn’t when I was doing it part-time, by constantly looking for ways to provide my students with as much value as possible.  It was during this time that I was getting increasingly positive feedback from my private tuition sessions too, so it hit me: I would tutor full-time!

I focus on quality instead of quantity! Each of my student can be sure that they will benefit from this: I will find out exactly where they’re at, set goals for where they want to be, and help them reach those goals by carefully monitoring their progress and providing them with detailed learning and revision plans specific to them.

Even though the proof of how effective this is for achieving outstanding grades is in the success of my past students, I will always be looking for ways to improve and refine my style, as tutoring is what I love!
